{"id":46938,"date":"2023-10-11T08:47:35","date_gmt":"2023-10-11T06:47:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drytech.ch\/?p=46938"},"modified":"2025-04-11T16:41:33","modified_gmt":"2025-04-11T14:41:33","slug":"september-1918-in-stresa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drytech.ch\/en\/september-1918-in-stresa\/","title":{"rendered":"Waterproofing of pools and whirlpools"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"46938\" class=\"elementor elementor-46938 elementor-46936\" data-elementor-settings=\"{&quot;ha_cmc_init_switcher&quot;:&quot;no&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-3501003 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"3501003\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_ha_eqh_enable&quot;:false}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-c4ec243\" data-id=\"c4ec243\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-74f9518 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"74f9518\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The waterproofing of the new indoor and outdoor pools and whirlpools in the SPA of the H\u00f4tel des Iles Borrome\u00e9s writes a new chapter in the fascinating history of this prestigious hotel.<br \/><br \/>In September 1918 a 19-year-old American soldier was wounded in the trenches and spent his convalescence in Stresa.<\/p><p>That boy is called Ernest Hemingway and, fascinated by the beauty of Lake Maggiore, he set part of his novel A Farewell to Arms &#8211; A Farewell to Arms, 1929 &#8211; there, making the Grand H\u00f4tel des Iles Borrom\u00e9es famous throughout the world.<\/p><p>It is just one of the many connections with history that have built the legend of the great hotel, inaugurated in 1863.<\/p><p>With the opening of the Simplon railway tunnel, Stresa became a privileged destination for elite European tourism and, in 1919, was included in the sixth route of the Orient Express: the one which from London reaches Istanbul through Italy, via Milan, Venice and Trieste.<\/p><p>The Simplon Orient Express soon became the most successful route and getting off at Des Iles gave wealthy travelers their first evocative impact on the Bel Paese.<\/p><p>In over a century and a half of history, the H\u00f4tel des Iles Borrome\u00e9s has been able to adapt the concept of elegance to the evolution of times and tastes, without distorting its inimitable Art Nouveau style.<\/p><p>The new Spa was inaugurated in 2022, with wellness programs, saunas, Turkish baths, salt rooms, as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools and hydromassage tubs, all made with the integral waterproofing of the Drytech Tank.<\/p><p>The speed of construction of the Drytech system allowed the Bellani company of Arona to remove the waterproofing activities from the work calendar, delivering the new structure in time for the opening of the grand season.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/drytech.ch\/en\/engineering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Drytech Engineering<\/a> also designed the solution for a sensitive structural detail such as the passage between the internal and external swimming pool, subject to significant temperature variations depending on the season.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #fa4616;\">Project:<\/span> Architect Statilio Ubiali, Verdellino<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #fa4616;\">Structure:<\/span> Eng.
